The National Archaeological Museum of Athens was built between 1866 and 1898, and is located on Patisson Street 44, it is on the list of the top ten museums of world, and most deservedly so. It is houses an unrivalled collection of Cycladic, Mycenaean, Minoan, and Classical Greek art. Displays of antiquities and finds from every part of the ancient Greek world date back to the Neolithic period, and carry through to the end of the Roman period. In the Mycenaean Hall, which is the most eagerly frequented hall, antiquities from the tombs and palaces of Mycenae, Tiryns, Argos and Attica can be seen, as well as the magnificent gold funeral ‘Mask of Agamemnon’, and other gold finds from the grave circle at Mycenae.
